Most contents pages feature a
large image, often of
the artist mentioned in the
feature article. These images are often
captioned which provides
anchorage, and results in the image
context being more clear to the audience. The contents pages that I looked at all contained
page numbers alongside brief
titles/descriptions of the pages that they are referring to. The majority of contents pages make use of a large
range of colours, which are used to highlight and apply emphasis to particular elements such as
competitions and
exclusive content. The colours used on the contents pages often
match the colours used on the front cover, and in most cases are dictated by the
house style. A particular
colour pallet/scheme is usually present throughout an
entire magazine. The fonts used within the contents page show signs of
consistency, and the layout and
composition used is often maintained
throughout the whole magazine. Most articles listed on the contents pages are
split into appropriate categories, such as "News" or "Reviews." Out of the magazines that I looked at, a large number of the contents pages contained information regarding
magazine subscriptions. A few contents pages had a small section allocated to the
magazine editor, which was filled by a
short letter from them.
